Central Tennessee is home to some of the most exciting outdoor cultural art events in the country. From the Tomato Art Fest to the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you're looking for a family-friendly event or a more relaxed celebration of music, Central Tennessee has it all. The Tomato Art Fest is one of Nashville's most exclusive events held in August.
This annual festival brings people together to celebrate the tomato, an element that unites, not a dividing element. During the event, you can purchase a variety of original works of art such as oil painting, watercolor, ceramics, textiles, metal, glass, sculptures and jewelry. Performances, admission and parking for this family-friendly event are free. Refreshments can be bought at a variety of food vendors on site.
All the works of art at the Greenway Art Festival are original and created by the artists; no mass-produced, commercially manufactured works or works manufactured from kits or molds will be exhibited. The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is another popular event in Central Tennessee. This music festival is like no other in the country and is a relaxed and fun-filled celebration of music. The African Street Festival focuses on the diverse cultures of Africa and on African-American culture. This festival includes concerts, events for children, performances by artists such as dance and magic shows, art competitions such as an art contest with chalk on the sidewalk, educational workshops, cooking competitions and much more. The Rotary Club of Kingsport, Tennessee also hosts an annual event in collaboration with the Kingsport Public Art Committee, Edens Investment and Barge Design Solutions, Inc.
The event is called the Carousel Fine Craft Show and it celebrates warm coleslaw (a mix of mustard, mayonnaise and secret sauce). The festival lasts approximately one week and includes musical performances, events for the whole family, attractions, art exhibitions, contests and marathons. The City of Kingsport also operates the Renaissance Arts Center, the Farmer's Market, the Kingsport Carousel and the Engage Kingsport Performing Arts series. If you would like to be considered to exhibit your work at any of these events or festivals, you can submit a package by email or postal mail to the Kingsport Office of Cultural Arts. The City of Kingsport is also requesting qualifications for professional regional artists to paint murals on the overpasses along the Kingsport Green Belt. Central Tennessee offers a wide range of outdoor cultural art events that are sure to please everyone.
From family-friendly festivals to more relaxed celebrations of music and art competitions, there's something for everyone to enjoy in Central Tennessee. Whether you're looking for an exciting day out with friends or a more laid-back experience with your family, Central Tennessee has it all.
